Our Story

Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Despite maximum treatment, GBM usually recurs, with fewer than 3 to 5% of people surviving longer than five years. In September of 2016, our world was turned upside down when our father, Larry Weisman, was diagnosed with GBM. Despite multiple surgeries, multiple rounds of treatment, and even clinical trials, GBM took our father away from us in March of 2019, leaving a hole in our family that can never be filled. No cause or clear way to prevent the disease is known. At Race to End GBM, we aim to be a driving force behind GBM research through our father’s love of cars. A life-long automobile enthusiast, Larry’s car collection spanned over 33 years and included nearly every genre. Whether it be a road rally, a high-speed race, or cars & coffee in a parking lot, he loved anything that involved 4-wheels and a motor. Throughout the year, Race to End GBM will host various car events to raise money for GBM research. We hope you’ll join us in our quest for answers, treatment options, and support for families battling GBM. “Let’s Motor!”
